What do you actually record?

We record full body motion and facial expressions at the same time, in one synchronized take. The actor wears a motion capture suit and a head mounted camera, so you get a single, coherent body and face performance that can be applied to your character.

Performance capture is used for both cinematic and gameplay content where acting and realistic performance really matter. Typical use cases include in game cinematics, dialogue scenes, hero moments, complex interactions between characters and any situation where body language and facial expressions need to match tightly.

To plan efficiently we need a script or shot list, basic character descriptions, information about your target engine and skeletons, and any visual or acting references you have. Animatics, storyboards or gameplay captures are very helpful. This preparation lets us plan shot order, camera layout, rehearsal time and the most efficient use of the stage.

We focus on body and facial capture, but we can also provide reference audio from microports. If needed, we can help you keep timing consistent between mocap and final audio, and support lipsync synchronization.

How is performance capture post-production is priced?

We work on an hourly basis, with different rates for specific services. There is a separate hourly rate for stage time during the shoot, and different rates for services such as directing, on set technical supervision, cleanup, retargeting and export. Before the session we provide a clear estimate that shows planned hours per service, so you can see exactly where the budget goes.

We can work with performers you bring, or help you cast actors from our network depending on your needs. Simple props such as guns, swords or chairs can usually be provided or improvised on our side. If you have specific prop requirements, we agree in advance whether you provide them or we source them.

Yes. You can direct the session remotely via live stream from the stage. We can show you the performance on a proxy character where possible, take your notes in real time and run retakes while the actors are still on set. We plan a reasonable amount of retake time into the schedule so you can refine key shots without unexpected overtime.

By default you receive an auto-labeled mocap data for each take and reference video. If the project includes post processing, we also deliver cleaned and retargeted body on your skeletons, in the agreed formats. Exact deliverables are established with you before the shoot.
